Earl and Marjorie Riebel
Earl J. and Marjorie Riebel, LaHarpe, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at a reception from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the North Community Building, 505 N. Buckeye.
Earl J. Riebel and Marjorie Weber were married Jan. 17, 1949.
He was born in Westphalia in 1929, one of 15 children born to Joseph Riebel and Flora Decker.
She was born in 1931 in Piqua to John and Mary Weber.
The couple were among four Riebel brothers who married four Weber sisters.
He served in the 21st ordnance Army in the Korean War from 1949 to 1952.
He is a member of LaHarpe’s Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
The couple lived in Iola for eight years and then built a home south of LaHarpe at 1175 2600 St. 50 years ago.
He worked at Lehigh Cement Plant for 20 years until it closed.
He then worked for LaFarge Corporation at the cement plant for 16 years, retiring in 1991.
His hobbies were playing softball and horseshoes in LaHarpe and Iola.
Hosts for the celebration will be the couple’s seven children, 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts or cards.
