Clifford Gradeless and Constance Smith were united in marriage on May 9, 1954 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
When they were first married, Kip worked as a farmer for Sherbahn Farms, and Connie worked for the Fred Carey Lumber and Construction Company in South Whitley.
Later Kip worked for 36 years for the Zollner Corporation in Fort Wayne. Connie attended St. Francis College where she received her teaching license and went on to teach at Thorncreek Elementary for 23 years.
They have four children - Mike, Mark, Ann Stalcup and Chris Hackworth. They are blessed with six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Kip and Connie will be celebrating 50 years of marriage on May 9. It is asked that family and friends shower the couple with cards for their special day. Cards can be sent to 5240 N. Lakewood Dr., Columbia City.
