Cervantes - Carter
Milagros Navarrete Cervantes and Andrew Stuart Carter were married Dec. 28, 2013, at the Iglesia San Miguel Arcangel in Arequipa, Peru. Father Miguel Angel Carbajal officiated the ceremony where the couple exchanged bilingual vows.
The bride is the daughter of Erika Cervantes and Walther Navarrete of Arequipa.
The groom is the son of Dr. Douglas and Mary Carter of Shelbyville, Indiana.
Attendants were Amanda Spagnuolo and Adam Basey of Shelbyville and Henry Cervantes and Melina Panduro of Arequipa.
Friends and family traveled from Chicago, Ill.; Madrid, Spain; London, England; Los Angeles, Calif.; New York, N.Y.; Brownsburg; Puerto Maldonado, Cuzco and Lima, Peru, to celebrate with the couple.
A reception by the riverside followed the ceremony.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Mount Alvernia High School in Newton, Mass., a 2007 graduate of Northwestern University, and she earned an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2013. She is an associate marketing manager at General Mills.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Shelbyville High School, 2004 graduate of Indiana University and earned a master's degree in information systems from the Kelley School of Business in 2007. He is currently obtaining an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
The couple met five years ago working at Deloitte Consulting in Chicago. A long-distance friendship soon developed into a long-distance relationship while the bride was living in London, and then Boston.
The couple currently live in Minneapolis, Minn.
