Kerry L. Tierney and Robert D. Bender were married June 8 at St. Joseph Church in Danbury by the Rev. Paul Merry, cousin of the bride.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Tierney of Wallingford. the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bender of Bullet Hill Road, Danbury.
The bride's sister, Mary Tierney, was maid of honor. Her sisters, Sharon Tierney, Sheila Schatzman and Carolyn Hamel, and Wendy Tierney were bridesmaids. Mollie Hamel was flower girl.
The bridegroom's brother, David Bender, was best man. His brother, Thomas Bender Jr., the bride's brothers, Michael Tierney and John Tierney, Chris Hamel and Bob Ruckdeschel were ushers. Ian Tierney was ring bearer.
A reception followed at the Fox Hill Inn in Brookfield.
Kerry Bender graduated from Mark T. Sheehan High School in Wallingford. She earned a B.A. in biology from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury where she is pursuing a B.S. in nursing. She is employed at Danbury Hospital.
Robert Bender graduated from Danbury High School and from Western Connecticut State University. He served five years in the Navy stationed in Newport, R.I. He is employed by Cendant Mobility in Danbury.
After a wedding cruise to the western Caribbean, they are living in Danbury.
