Olson, Ostergard wed
JoAn Knapple Olson of Johnson Lake and Steve Ostergard of Gothenburg were united in marriage on Saturday, March 15, 2003. Rev. Tim Travers officiated the 2 p.m. ceremony at the First United Methodist Church in Gothenburg.
JoAn is the daughter of Barb Knapple and the late Neil Knapple of rural Lexington.
Steve is the son of Gage and Sara Jane Ostergard of rural Gothenburg.
The bride wore a two-piece gown of layered ivory chiffon featuring ivory brocade inserts and silver beading at the cuffs. She wore a veil of matching ivory chiffon flowing from a beaded princess headband. Her bouquet consisted of white roses accented with green ivy and white pearl sprays.
Steve was attired in a black tuxedo featuring a black satin collar, with a platinum-textured vest and silver-gray tie.
Candle lighters were Becci Havlicek, Topeka, Kan., and Christina Havlicek, Lincoln, nieces of the groom. Ushers were John Knapple, Lexington, brother of the bride, Nic Ostergard, Callaway, and John Ostergard, Alda, both brothers of the groom.
Karla Bartruff, Gothenburg, was the organist and Barry McDairmid, Gothenburg, sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "Wind Beneath My Wings."
Elaine Ostergard, Callaway, niece of the groom, attended the guest book, and Amanda Oakleaf, niece of the groom, assisted at the gift table.
A reception followed at the church fellowship hall with the couple's sisters Jane (Knapple) Mooney and Barb (Ostergard) Havlicek cutting the cake and the couple's sisters-in-law Pam Knapple, Karlene Ostergard and Jan Ostergard serving coffee and punch.
After a honeymoon in Lincoln, the couple resides in Gothenburg.
JoAn, a graduate of Hastings College, is a reporter/photographer for the Lexington Clipper-Herald Newspaper, where she will write under the name of JoAn L. Ostergard.
Steve, a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, works at Land-O-Lakes/Farmland Feeds in Gothenburg.
