Marcietta Philene Swilley and Larry Jerome Washington were married Sept. 2, 2000, at Refreshing Spring Church of God In Christ in Riverdale, Md. with the Rev. Joseph W. Lyles and Elder Joseph Gray officiating. The bride is the daughter of Erma Boyd Swilley Hines of Palatka and the late Earnest F. Swilley Sr. Her godmother is Caretha B. Everett of Marianna. The groom is the son of Evelyn Solone and Jervy Washington of Hollyhill, S.C. Given in marriage by her godfather, the bride wore a long exquisite ivory gown with a sweetheart sculptured pearl border neckline and sheer lace scallop cap sleeveless shaped with a scoop neck. The fitted V-shaped lace empire bodice was embellished with re-embroidered lace, sequins and simulated pearls. The double skirt underskirt had a lengthy chapel train, both trimmed with decorative cutout Schiffli medallions scroll work of pearls and soutache edged with Schiffli lace. The headdress was a floral crown. Wedding music was provided by Aaron Adderley, Phyllis Adderley, Walter Wright, Reginald Bouknight, the Rev. Carl Taylor and Sharese Taylor. Yolanda Swilley Smith served as matron of honor. G. Oinette McElveen Pleasant served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Phyllis Swilley Adderley, Merina Washington, and Alinda Allen. Brianna Butler served as flower girl. Purcell Smith served as best man. Ushers were Crushall Swilley, James Sherrod Sr., Jimmy Washington, Gene Barnes, Ronald Jones, Reginald Swilley Sr., Earnest Swilley Jr. and Jerry Williams. Groomsmen were Sean Pompey, Steve Felder, Dave Pair, Kimas Bouknight. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Andrew Air Force Base. The couple took a 10-day wedding trip to Aruba. They will live in Washington, Md. The bride graduated from Palatka High School and University of Central Florida. She is employed as an industrial engineer with National Aeronautic and Space Administration in Washington, D.C. The groom graduated from Eastern High School and attended University District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. He is a retired printing specialist of the National Aeronautic and Space Administration in Washington, D.C.
