Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Thurnherr of Cheektowaga and Port Richey, Fla., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a renewal of their marriage vows in St. John's Lutheran Church, Depew, followed by a surprise party in Westwood Park, Lancaster.
Thurnherr and Shirley H. Eschberger were married Aug. 7, 1954, in Honeye Falls.
He is a real estate agent in Florida and a retired Cheektowaga police detective.
The couple has seven children, 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
