Mr. and Mrs. Marion R. Thurmond Sr. of Williamsville celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends in Salvatore's Italian Gardens, Town of Lancaster, followed by a gathering of family in their home.
Thurmond and Nora Carter were married May 21, 1944, in Augusta, Ga.
He is a retired union representative for the United Steelworkers.
The couple has eight children, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
