Matyas - 50th
Mr. and Mrs. John Donald Matyas of Hannibal celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a dinner in their honor on May 4, 2002, at the home of Steve and Mary Matyas.
Mary Beth Stuart and John Donald Matyas were united in marriage on May 4, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Wichita, Kan.
Attendants were Peggy Matyas Carmichael and Ralph Stuart.
They are the parents of two children, George Matyas of Banks, Ore., and Stephen Matyas of Washington, Mo.
They have two grandchildren, Jasen Matyas of Kirksville and John Matyas of Banks.
Mr. Matyas served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He is a retired civil engineer for the Missouri Department of Transportation and enjoys gardening, painting and sculpture.
Mrs. Matyas is a retired social worker and was the owner and operator of Hannibal Sailcraft.
She is a member of the Hannibal Writers Club.
