Segars
55th Anniversary
Roberta and Judson Segars celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary July 16 with a dinner party at Hidden Valley Inn. Joining them was their son retired colonel Robert Segars of Clovis, N.M. and Carole Waina of Tucson and their families.
The Segars were married June 16, 1939 in Roberta’s hometown of Louisville, Ky. Judson is from Hartsville, S.C. They have lived in Tucson for the past 14 years.
Judson was a U.S. Army chaplain for more than 20 years. He remains an unofficial pastor-at-large, ministering to many.
Thompson
50th Anniversary
Harriet Margaret and Clifford Jerome Thompson celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary June 3 with their children and grandchildren. They have six children: Sandy Leonard-Groza, Arlie Thompson, Tammy Thompson-Shetterly, Cheryl Crowson, Carrie Haines and Ellen Bowman.
They have nine grandchildren: Elizabeth Radtke, Wendy Thompson, Brad Leonard, Tracy Thompson, Jeff Leonard, Benjamin Crowson, Tom and Jenny Haines and Jason Bowman.
Paulsen
50th Anniversary
Agnes and Lyle Paulsen celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a family reunion in Sedona. They were married June 2, 1944 in Blair, Neb. and have lived in Arizona 21 years.
They have five children: Mark Paulsen, Sylvia Hamilton and Ann Kozachik of Tucson, Joel Paulsen of Salt Lake City, Utah and Wayne Paulsen of Jacksonville, Fla. They have nine grandchildren.
Sayers
50th Anniversary
Connie and Charles Sayers plan to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a month-long trip to Alaska by way of Canada and the Yukon Territory. They were married June 10, 1944 in Newport News, Va. and have lived in Arizona 46 years.
Mrs. Sayers is a homemaker and Mr. Sayers retired after 30 years with Local #741.
They have two children: Connie Emerson and Candis Baza, both of Tucson. They have four grandchildren: Jay, Amanda, Michelle and Michael and one great-grandchild, Madeline.
Thompson
60th Anniversary
Jean and Andy Thompson will celebrate their sixtieth wedding anniversary June 25.
They were married in Belvidere, Ill. and moved from Chicago to Tucson with their two sons, Richard and Robert. They now also have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Both Jean and Andy retired from Hughes Aircraft.
Fox
50th Anniversary
Roby and Jim Fox will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary with an open house/buffet hosted by their children Ken Fox of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Rick Fox of Bishop Calif. and Debbie Osborne of Tucson. It will be held at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Robert Osborne.
They were married Jan. 29, 1944 in Miami, Fla. and have lived in Arizona 49 years. Mrs. Fox is a retired secretary and Mr. Fox is a retiree of Southern Pacific Railroad.
They have 11 grandchildren.
Rollins
50th Anniversary
Georgette and George Rollins celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary May 28 at the Park Tucson Hotel.
They were married June 1, 1944 in New London, Conn. They moved to Tucson in 1971 when George retired after 25 years with the Detroit Police Department. He was employed by the City of Tucson and retired from there in 1984.
The Rollinses have six children: Kathleen Rotella, George Rollins, Carol Collins, Patrick Rollins, Robert Rollins, and Richard Rollins. They also have 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Corley
50th Anniversary
Henrietta and Herman Corley will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a reception at their new home on Father’s Day.
They are pictured on their wedding day, June 7, 1944, when Herman was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They have lived in Arizona 34 years and now are retired. Henrietta was employed by TMC and Herman was employed by Hughes Aircraft Company.
They have four children: Pat Kinyon of Victorville, Calif. and Steve, Candy and Tim Corley of Tucson. They have three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Thompson
50th Anniversary
Janie and Tommy Thompson celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a party at Comanche Wells Mobile Home Park hosted by their children, Nancy Post and Kay Woodsworth of Tucson and Steve Thompson of Murray, Ind. Attending were many friends and relatives including their eight grandchildren.
They were married May 13, 1944 in Benton Harbor, Mich. and have lived in Arizona 46 years. They now are retired. Mrs. Thompson was a teachers’ aide in the Amphitheater School District and Mr. Thompson was president of Thompsons’ Specialty Contractors.
Sterling
50th Anniversary
Sylvia and Bob Sterling celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 4. They met in London, England – Sylvia’s birthplace – while Bob was serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Now retired, Sylvia was the office manager at Pima Glass Service for many years. Bob retired from the U.S. Air Force as a chief master sergeant after 22 years. He then worked for Davis Monthan Credit Union where he was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 1986. He retired from there after 20 years.
They have three children, Barbara, Michael and Bob Jr.
Carpenter
50th Anniversary
Betty and Robert Carpenter celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a dinner party May 15 at Westward Look Resort. It was hosted by their children Robert Carpenter Jr., Nita Higgins, Sandy Elliott and John Carpenter, and their 11 grandchildren. They also presented Betty and Robert with a month-long trip to San Diego.
Their grandchildren are: Robert Carpenter III; Michael Carpenter; Laura Beckwith; Andy and Adam Higgins; Deanna, Cindy and Ali Elliott, Jennifer Carpenter, Danielle Robbins and Kenny Carpenter. They have four great-grandchildren.
Franklin
50th Anniversary
Denise and William G. Franklin celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a European vacation that included a special celebration in Rome, Italy.
They were married June 2, 1944 in San Francisco, Calif. and have lived in Arizona 20 years. Both now are retired.
They have one child, Tony Franklin of Tucson.
Fetterly
50th Anniversary
Margaret “Peg’ and Robert Fetterly plan to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary July 2 at home with family and friends. It will be hosted by their children Rosemary Burch, Linda Yamas and Steven and Thomas Fetterly.
They were married June 19, 1944 in Rochester, Mich. and have lived in Arizona 31 years where Mrs. Fetterly retired from the UA School of Music in 1986. Mr. Fetterly, a building contractor since 1948, owns Fetterly Construction Company.
They have 10 grandchildren and one great-granmdchild.
Zwick
50th Anniversary
Jenny and Marion Zwick celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary June 4 at the Moose Lodge with family and close friends. They were married June 10, 1944 in Alliance, Ohio and have lived in Arizona 42 years.
Mrs. Zwick is a homemaker and Mr. Zwick is a Navy veteran and a retired carpenter. He has been a member of the Moose Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks and Eagles for many years.
Mucciolo
50th Anniversary
Mary and Louis Mucciolo celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a surprise family dinner and reception at DaVinci’s in April, followed by an Alaskan cruise in June.
They were married June 11, 1944 in New York, N.Y. and have lived in Arizona 13 years.
They have three children: John Mucciolo of Tarrytown, N.Y., Joanne Dwinell of Eugene, Ore. and Judith Skroback of Tucson. They have five grandchildren.
Lash
65th Anniversary
Laura Belle and D. Ralph Lash celebratred their 65th wedding anniversary with a reception at Viscount Suites hosted by their children, Arval Lash of Waxahachie, Texas, Sue Journey of Dallas, Texas and Barbara Lunsford of Tucson. Four of their five grandchildren and 11 of their 12 great-grandchildren attended.
They were married June 20, 1929 in Madison, Pa. and have lived in Arizona 47 years where both retired from Tucson Unified School District.
Scalpone
55th Anniversary
Eva and Ralph Scalpone celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary with a family gathering. They were married June 6, 1939 in Brooklyn, N.Y. and have lived in Arizona 32 years where they owned and operated the Eagle Bakery. They now are retired.
They have three children: Barbara Malmquist of Denver, Colo. and Dennis Scalpone and Nick Scalpone of Tucson. They have eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
