Perino
50th Anniversary
Lura and Joseph J. Perino celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with family and friends at a dinner dance.
They were married May 12, 1944 in Charleston, S.C. and have lived in Arizona 46 years. Joseph is a retired colonel.
They had eight children: Camille Jones of Lund, Nev.; Joseph Perino of Tucson; David Perino of Cascabell; Tom Perino of Jackson, Wyo.; Mary Consul of Las Vegas, Nev.; Danney Perino of Tucson and Michial and Paul Perino who are now deceased. They have 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Garcia
50th Anniversary
Concepcion and David M. Garcia celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a dinner at the Tucson home of their daughter Elinor Ahumada.
They are pictured on their wedding day, April 23, 1944, in Nogales. Concepcion is a homemaker and David is a retiree of the Arizona Highway Department.
They have five other children – Elizabeth Woods, Myra Irwin, Naomi Laughlin, David Garcia and Lydia Collins – eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Vingochea
25th Anniversary
Carmen and Rafael Vingochea celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary in Las Vegas, Nev.
They were married May 3, 1969 at St. Margaret’s Church and have four children: Veronica Lisa, Maria Christina, Luis Daniel and Priscilla Teresa.
Carmen is a homemaker and Rafael is a sergeant in the Air National Guard.
Davis
50th Anniversary
Margaret and John A. Davis celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a casual dinner for family and close friends at the Club at La Mariposa. It was hosted by their children: Barbara Beuckman, Robin Bentley and John A. Davis Jr. – all of Tucson.
They were married April 24, 1944 in Roxana, Ill. and have lived in Arizona 30 years. Mrs. Davis is a retired teacher from Tucson Unified School district and Mr. Davis is a retired teacher from Amphitheater High School.
They have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Romano
40th Anniversary
Joan and Nick Romano celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary at a surprise party hosted by their children.
They were married May 8, 1954 at Ss. Philip and James Church in Bronx, N.Y.
Mrs. Romano retired from Sabino High School’s registration office and Mr. Romano retired from IBM as a senior engineer.
They have four children: Nick Jr. and Michael J. Romano of Tucson, Mary Romano of Westminister, Colo., and Amy Romano of Niwot, Colo. They have four grandchildren.
Drudge
25th Anniversary
Gale and Rex Drudge celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with a party for family and friends. They are planning an anniversary cruise in November.
They were married May 10, 1969 in Tucson. Gale is a native Tucsonan and Rex has lived here since he was six years old.
Gale is employed by Indian Stores Consolidated and Rex is employed by Tucson Electric Power. They have two sons, Alan and Adam.
Jacobs
50th Anniversary
Ethel and Raymond Jacobs celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with an open house/buffet at their home. Guests included local families and friends, others from California, and Mrs. Jacobs’ two brothers and their wives from Ohio.
The Jacobses were married April 5, 1944 in Hamilton, Ohio. They have lived in Arizona 30 years and are now retired.
They have two children: Thomas Jacobs and Susan Jacobs Allen, both UA graduates. They have five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Van Asdlan
45th Anniversary
Phyllis and John Van Asdlan celebrated their forty-fifth wedding anniversary at their home with a dinner and reception for family and friends following a renewal of their wedding vows by Father Carscallen.
They were married April 23, 1949 in Tucson and have lived in Arizona 45 years. Phyllis is a homemaker and John is a retired heating and cooling estimator.
They have four children: Shirley Roewer of Florida and Johnny Jr., James and Gerald Van Asdlan all of Tucson. They have eight grandchildren.
Seklecki
25th Anniversary
Renee and Eugene “Gene’ Seklecki are pictured on their wedding day, May 17, 1969, in Chicago, Ill. “It was a cold, rainy day,’ Renee recalls.
Gene is an oral-maxillofacial surgeon who has practiced in Tucson for the last 18 years, after a hitch in the Navy at Subase, Pearl Harbor and advanced training in his specialty. Renee has managed the office for the last 10 years.
They will celebrate their anniversary by taking a working cruise through the Alaskan Inlet with fellow dentists beginning May 30.
The Sekleckis have three children: Derek, who is teaching in Himi, Japan; Mariette, a student at the UA; and Kara, 14 years old.
Ellis
25th Anniversary
Clanie M. and William H. Ellis celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary with a party hosted by their daughter and and son-in-law.
They were married May 17, 1969 in Tucson. Mrs. Ellis now is retired and Mr. Ellis, a retiree of the U.S. Air Force, now is employed by the U.S. Postal Service.
They have five children: Francine White, Cecil E. Dawkins, Larry Ellis, Karen Ellis, and William H. Ellis III.
They have 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.
Ball
50th Anniversary
Carolyn and Lee Ball Jr. were escorted by limousine supposedly to dinner with a couple of friends. Instead, more than 130 friends and relatives were waiting for them at the Elks Lodge, Casa Adobes #2663 for their surprise anniversary party where their son Rev. Roger Ball performed the renewal of their wedding vows.
They have five children – Roy Lee Ball, Lena Louise Cheely, Rev. Roger Ball, Teresa L. Ball and Della L. Linton – 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Brady
50th Anniversary
Doris and James B. Brady celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with an open house at their home for family and friends.
They were married May 6, 1944 in Sherwood Forest, U.K. They have lived in Arizona 35 years.
They have three sons – Michael, Terrance and James A. – and three daughters – Patricia, Shivawn and Jacquelyn. They also have three grandchildren – Rita-Marie, Kellen and Bailey.
