30th Anniversary
Norma E. and Theodore N. Watson Jr. will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a catered dinner at their residence. They were married Aug. 20, 1966 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Tucson. Mrs. Watson is is a teacher in the Sunnyside School Districtf. Mr. Watson retired from Tucson Electric Power in July. Their children are Tracy E. Watson and Terri L. Watson, both of Tucson. Muir 50th Anniversary Velma and Joe celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a memory party on July 21, 1996 in Tok, Alaska. The Muir s were presented with a memory quilt. Friends and family who were unable to attend sent a short story about the couple s life through their 50 years of marriage to be placed in a memory book. They were married Aug. 7, 1946 in Dodge City, Kan. Forty year Tucson residents, Mr. Muir retired from Hughes Aircraft Co. Their children are Tom (Marcia) Muir of Gold Canyon, Ariz. and Don (Debbie) Muir of Tok. They hae 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

50th Anniversary
Beverly and Dominic A. Chiaro celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a 2week trip to Kauai, Hawaii and a 7day Alaska cruise, a gift from their children. The Chiaro s were married June 18, 1946 in Bloomington, Ill. Forty-one year Tucson residents, Mr. Chiaro is retired from California Portland Cement Co. Their 3 children are Vicki (Robert) Hanson of Tucson, Kenneth (Donna) Chiaro of Tucson and Beverly Jean (James) Fink of Dallas, Texas. They have 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Hilwig
40th Anniversary
Kay T. and Ronald W. Hilwig celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a weeklong inter-island cruise to Hawaiian Islands aboard the S.S. Independence. They were married June 9, 1956 in Tunkhannock, Pa. and have lived in Tucson for 22 years. Mrs. Hilwig holds the Master and Doctor of Arts degrees from London Metropolitan Institute. She teaches art and paints in her home studio. Mr. Hilwig holds the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State Univeresity and the Ph.D degree in comparative cardiology from The Ohio State University. He condusts cardiac research at the University Heart Center and is a faculty member at The University of Arizona College of Medicine. Their children are Tona (Steve) Wilson of Tucson and Kara Hilwig of Bonner s Ferry, Ind.
Powell
50th Anniversary
James V. (Jim) and G. Jeanette Breannan (Jean) Powell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a fiesta gala hosted by their family. They were married Sept. 1, 1946 in Geneva, N.Y., where they were both stationed at Sampson Naval Hospital as hospital corpsmen. Jim picked Jean out at a USO dance, telling a buddy, That s the girl I m going to marry! Three months later, they were married. They both attended the University of Minnesota after being honorably discharged from the Navy. Mr. Powell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and Mrs. Powell had their first child. The Air Force recruited Mr. Powell, and they moved to San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Powell completed Officers Candidate School and Mrs. Powell gave birth to their 2 daughters who are 15 month apart. While Mr. Powell attended Radar Observer/All Weather Fighter training, Mrs. Powell and family traveled to California. They were reunited at Elmendorf AFT, Alaska. Their second son was born 3 weeks before being transferred to Mather AFB in Sacramento, Calif. The Powell s traveled the globe. They lived in Okinawa, Japan and have visited China, Thailand and Europe. After a 27-year military career, 11 years overseas duty, and 3 combat years, Mr. Powell retired in Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Powell maintains a beautiful home, cares for her 96 year old mother, Winona Brennan, and throws the best family gettogethers. Mr. Powell was a technical writer for Hughes Aircraft Co. for 10 years. Now retired, he enjoys working in his shop building furniture, carving figurines, gun smithing and building telescopes. When not throwing parties or working in their yard, the Powell s are on the road in their ITASCA recreational vehicle. Their children are Co. Jon (Lt. Col. Linda Arndt) Powell of Lake Ridge, Va., Dawn Ashenfelter of Mesa, Ariz., Kelly (Jack) Parker of Vail, Ariz., Piper Kevin (Kara) Powell of Tucson, and Skylar (Phyllis) Powell of Tucson. Their grandchildren are Angela and Bridget Powell, Zachary and Lincoln Pace, Michael, Brian Stephanie and Jenifer Parker, and Kristofer and Karl Powell. They have 1 great-grandchild, Zachary James Parker.
Knauff
60th Anniversary Melva (Meg) and Cecil W. (Rusty) Knauff celebrated their 60th anniversary with a family reunion in Colorado that included 6 days of sightseeing in the area of Canon City and Colorado Springs. Mr. Knauff grew-up in Canon City and had the joy of showing his children and grandsons his former home and schools. The climax of the tour was a dinner at the LeBaron Hotel in Colorado Springs, decorated in traditional diamond motif Following the reunion, The Knauff s traveled in Utah. Later this fall, they will be going to the Grand Canyon where they spent their wedding trip. Mr. Knauff retired after 27 years with Hughes Aircraft Co. Prior to his employment at Hughes Aircraft, he owned and operated Knauff s Impressive Printing. In December, 1995, he donated his printing equipment to the Arizona Historical Society. The Knauff s both have numerous hobbies, traveling is their favorite. Their goal of visiting all 50 states and photographing each capitol was realized by their 50th anniversary. Mrs. Knauff collects angels, unique bells, fawns and miniatures.She is an avid photographer. Mr. Knauff collects elephants and has more than 600 from various parts of the world. Their children are Larry (Anne) Knauff of Fairview, Tenn., Randy Knauff of Anchorage, Alaska, and Marjorie (Bob) Fye of Lakewood, Colo. Their grandsons are Bobby, Michael and David Fye.
