Rebecca (Becky) and Herman Ferguson will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at the Wagon Wheel Village Mobile Home Park in the White Mountains with friends and family. They were married June 26, 1946 in Lordsburg, N.M. Mrs. Ferguson is a homemaker and Mr. Ferguson is a retired Greyhound Bus Driver. Oda and Sewell Yarbrough celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 1 at a party hosted by their children at the Windmill Inn. Many friends and relatives gathered to honor them on this special occasion.
They were married May 28, 1946 in big Springs, Texas. Mrs. Yarbrough is a homemaker and quilter. Mr. Yarbrough retired from Yarbrough Brothers Construction. Janet and Robert El Williams Sr. celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to Las Vegas with friends, Paul and Margie Ferguson, and a dinner at the home of Cecil and Cheyenne Gomer in Vail, Ariz.
They were married April 23, 1971 in Tucson. Mrs. Williams owns and operates The County Fair Barber Shop. Mr. Williams owns and operates The Palo Verde Barber Shop. Their children are Philip (Cindy) Williams of Potsdam, N.Y. and Robert (Kyleene) Williams of Tucson.

Virginia and Roberto Salgado will celebrate their 50th anniversary by renewing their vows at Holy Family Catholic Church and a dinner and dance at the Ramada Inn University with all of their family and friends.
They were married June 24, 1946 in Tiger, Ariz. Mrs. Salgado retired from the Department of Economic Security after 17 years and Mr. Salgado retired from the Arizona School for the Deaf and the Blind after 20 years. Their children are Olga (Hector) Murillo of Charlotte, N.C., and Virginia (Ben) Rivera, Maria (Louis) Galvan, Dora (Daniel) Nunez, Bobbie (Rudy) Moreno, all of Tucson. They have 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Prahl celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 9 at a reception at the United Methodist Church in Mahomet, Ill. The Prahls are at home during the summer in Seymore, Ill. Mr. Prahl and the former Peggy J. Shell were married June 10, 1946 at Mt. Vernon Church in Champaign, Ill. They are the parents of 1 daughter, Sue Prahl of Tucson, and 4 sons in Illinois: David Prahl of Mahomet, Jerry Prahl of Buckley, Scott Prahl of Seymour and John Prahl of Crystal Lake. They have 6 grandchildren, 1 step-granddaughter, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Their children Catherine (Vinny) Russo and Anthony (Mary) Sciuto, both of Tucson, and other relatives attended the cruise celebration. hey were married July 7, 1946 in Queens, N.Y. and have lived in Tucson for 22 years. Betty and Francis (Frank) Porter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 15 at a luncheon at Embassy Suites for family and friends. They also plan a canal cruise in the fall. They were married April 21, 1946 in Pine Camp, N.Y. and have lived in Tucson since 1989. Mrs. Porter, a member of WAVES 1944-1946, retired from Faichney Instruments in Watertown, N.Y. Mr. Porter served for 30 years in the U.S. Air Force. Their children are Bill (Chris) Porter of Independence, Mo., Ann (Larry) Wichersham of Tucson, and John (Debbie) Porter of Tucson. They have 7 grandchildren.

Elisabeth and Jim Vernon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary during several small parties given by friends. They were married in Canyon, Texas on June 30, 1946 when Mr. Vernon returned from the Navy in World War II. They have lived in Tucson since 1953. Mrs. Vernon taught in the Tucson Unified School District and retired after 25 years as principal of Wheeler School. Mr. Vernon retired as sales representative of the American Chicle Division of Warner Lambert.

Jesus Fraijo and Clara Sierras Leon were joined by family and friends on May 18, 1996 at St. Margaret’s Church to renew their vows where they were married 50 years ago to the day. A dinner and dance followed at the Holiday Inn City Center. Mr. and Mrs. Leon met and married in Tucson and moved to Northern California in 1956, where they still reside in San Leandro. Mr. Leon was a cement finisher for San Xavier Rock and Sand, then Tucson Rock and Sand until he moved to California where he worked as a foreman for Safeway Stores, Inc. until he retired in 1983. Mrs. Leon worked for T. Ed Litts Drug Store in Tucson until her marriage, when she became a full-time homemaker and mother. The Leon’s five children are John (Terry) Trujillo, Jesse (Marlene) Leon, Robert (Jennifer) Leon, Christine (Bill) Boughton, all of California, and Linda (John) Martinez of Oro Valley. They also have 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Sophie and John Franklin Combs celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 16 with a renewal of their marriage vows at St. Augustine Cathedral. They were married June 16, 1946 at St. Augustine Cathedral. Mr. Combs is a retired teacher, who headed the Science Department at Canyon Del Oro High School in the Amphitheater School District. He now works as a consulting entomologist. Their children are Sally Combs Soike of Tucson, Kathy Combs of Phoenix, and Nancy Combs of Tucson. Their grandchildren are Kristin Soike of Brentwood, Calif. and Jack Combs-Martineau of Phoenix.

Inez and Ray Larkin celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Tosuka, Japan during an anniversary trip to Japan. They were married June 1, 1946 in DeSoto, Mo. Residents of Tucson for 31 years, Mrs. Larkin has been a “dedicated mother and teacher’ and Mr. Larkin owned Quahada Construction. Their children are Diana (Randy) Ginn of Japan, and Dan (Sheila) Larkin, Denise (George) Gomez and David (Lisa) Larkin, all of Tucson. They have 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren (with 2 on the way).

Patricia Durkin and Thomas Hardy Stout Jr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a small gathering of friends and family at their Tucson home. They were married May 27, 1946 in Tucson. Mr. Stout worked for the state of Wisconsin for 30 years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor. Mrs. Stout worked with Mr. Stout as his driver/helper. Mr. Stout was State Commander of The Veterans of Foreign Wars, the first blind person to hold that position. Together, the Stouts raised 3 children and are retired in Tucson. Their children are Thomas Hardy Stout III of St. Paul, Minn., Patricia Ann Stout of Minneapolis, Minn. and Maynard Durkin Stout of Tucson.

51st Anniversary
Zel and Bernie Levitt celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in Laughlin, Nev. During a family reunion, they enjoyed Chinese food and later watched “Twentieth Century’ and “Rasputin and the Empress,’ a couple of Barrymore classics. They were married March 18, 1945 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Mrs. Levitt retired from Foley’s of Tucson and Mr. Levitt retired from The New York Times. Their oldest son, Bill Levitt of Danville, Calif., is a physician and is the administrator of the Danville Urgent Care Center. Daughter Pam Levitt of Tucson is putting the final touches on the home into which she recently moved. Greg Levitt is director of F.A.M.I.L.Y., Incorporated, an Arizona-based non-profit. G. Shannon Levitt of Tucson, Their daughter Karen passed away in 1969. Their olden granddaughter Lauren will be resuming her medical studies in Wisconsin this summer. Granddaughter Pauls works at the University of Oregon in Portland. Their grandson Jonathan is completing his final year at Portland State University. He will be receiving a degree in business. Their grandson Sam, age 11, enjoys basketball, football, baseball and wrestling with his dad. Grandson Abe, age 12, enjoys soccer, baseball and, just like his Grandpa Bernie, playing the piano.

35th Anniversary
Alicia and Luis A. (Lou) Palacio celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by their children and sons-in-law at the Palacio home. They were married May 4, 1961 in Calexcio, Calif. They have lived in Arizona for 24 years, 2 years in Phoenix and 22 years in Tucson. Mrs. Palacio has worked in retail sales for more than 30 years. She retired last year from Factory 2-U. Mr. Palacio retired after 35 years with Mann Theaters and its predecessor companies. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and he served 20 months in the South Pacific. Mr. Placacio is a 50-year member of B.P.O.E. #1382-Calexico Elksa. He is former president of the Calexico Chamber of Commerce and former president of the Calexico Kiwanis Club. Mr. and Mrs. Palacio are members of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Their children are Mary (David) Hum of Tucson, Carmen (Glen) Smith of Las Vegas, Nev., Alma (Robert) Klinger of Tucson, and Louis Palacio of Tucson and John David Palacio of Tucson. Their 3 grandchildren are Tyler Hum, Ryan Smith and Kayla Klinger.

25th Anniversary
Linda and Joe Cammilleri celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows in Las Vegas, Nev. The ceremony was held at Little Chapel of the West, the same chapel in which they were married on June 5, 1971. Mrs. Cammilleri is employed by Carondelet and Mr. Cammilleri is employed by Evergreen Air Center. The couple have two children, Anastasia and Joe Jr. of Tucson.
Gagnon
60th Anniversary
Kathryn and Howard Gagnon celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with dinner at The Japanese Kitchen with immediate family, son Dennis Gagnon, daughter Mary Gregory, grandson Danny Gregory, son John Gagnon and his fiance Kayleen. They were married May 30, 1936 in Minneapolis, Minn. Mr. Gagnon owned Blair, a hospital and surgical supply store from 1967 through 1974 in Tucson before his retirement. The Gagnons share many memories. From Minnesota their remembered the family fun on the 26-foot cabin cruiser on Lake Minnetonka, the duck hunting cabin on Norway that they leased every year, and the many trips to Johnny and Charlotte’s lodge in Remer, Minn.–what fishing that was. In Arizona, their biggest joy was raising their youngest son, John who became a fine soccer player and bow hunter. Their fondest memory of Arizona is their children: Dennis, John and Mary. They have 4 grandchildren.

On the eve of the anniversary, their 4 children, Cynthia Cerveny of Ramona, Calif., Stephen Diehl of Spring Valley, Jennifer (Craig) Cameron of Gold Canyon, Ariz., and Janette Diehl of San Diego, Calif. hosted a dinner party at The Charles Grill. They spent a fine evening of dining, dancing and reminiscing, with the special attention of the management. They were married May 18, 1946 in Orchard Lake, Mich. Mrs. Diehl works fro Welcome Newcomers and Mr. Diehl works for Wood Dimensions. They are 26-year Tucson residents. They have 5 grandchildren.

Amanda and Wiley Turner celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise dinner and dance at the Holiday Inn-Downtown that was hosted by their children. They were married June 15, 1946 in Starkville, Miss. after Mr. Turner returned from serving in World War II. They have been Tucson residents since June 1985. Mrs. Turner retired from Abbott Laboratories as a laboratory specialist IV. A mechanic, Mr. Turner retired after 30 years with Firestone Rubber in Kensha, Wis. They have 8 children.

Native Tucsonans Teresa and Pete Rodriguez celebrated their 1st wedding anniversary. They were married June 10, 1995 at Casa Adobes Congregational Church in Tucson. Mrs. Rodriguez is a 1st grade teacher in the Flowing Wells School District and will begin graduate studies at The University of Arizona. Mr. Rodriguez is employed by IBM. He recently completed his graduate studies in Management Information Systems. They enjoy their new additions to the family–Mandy and Pedro.

Marjorie and Frederick Peryer celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They were married June 11, 1956. They are originally from Michigan. Mrs. Peryer is a homemaker and Mr. Peryer is manager of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Their children are Marianne Andersen of Tulsa, Okla., Marcia (John) Costello of Tucson, Marilyn Huntsinger of Raleigh, N.C., and Michelle (Bryan) of Belding, Mich. Their six grandchildren are Tony, Melanie, Meredith, Meghan, Seth and Christopher.

Jan and Jim Neil celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary. They were married June 19, 1976 at Broadway Christian Church in Tucson, where they are elders at the present time. Mrs. Neil teaches for Tucson Unified School District #1. Mr. Neil works for Jim Click Ford. They have two sons, Lee and Jason. The couple plans to celebrate their anniversary with a second honeymoon trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Lois J. and Roy A. Myers will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family members from Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix during a Sunday brunch at The Arizona Inn. They were married June 24, 1946 at the First Baptist Church in Tucson. Mrs. Myers is the organist at the First Baptist Church and Mr. Myers retired from Southern Pacific Railroad. Their son is Ronald (Betty Jo) Myers of Bishopville, S.C. They have two grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Junia and Thomas Duck celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with approximately 50 guests and long-time friends, including one of their bridesmaids, Thelma Louise Ransom of Tucson. The event was celebrated with dinner in the Voyager Ballroom at the Smuggler’s Inn. The Music Company band performed. The couple was married in Tucson on June 19, 1936. They founded and retired from Ugly Duckling Rent-A-Car System in 1978. Mr. Duck is president of Canard Resources Inc/ Their son Thomas S. Duck Jr. and his wife Janet of Sierra Madre, Calif. also attended the celebration. They have two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. They also have a late daughter.

Betty J. and Herbert M. Howell celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They are planning a trip to Hawaii in the future and taking the whole family. They were married June 29, 1946 in Fairmount, Ind. The first woman Quaker minister in Indiana, Lennie Chamness, officiated. Mrs. Howell retired from the Forest Service. Mr. Howell retired from the Amphitheater School District. Their children are Steven Howell, an airplane mechanic of Tucson, and Dennis (Phyllis) Howell, a captain with the City of Tucson Fire Department. Their grandchildren are Matt Senn, who is in the U.S. Marine Corps, and Tammie Senn, who is is the U.S. Army.

Delia and Aurelio S. Lopez celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise luncheon with their children, grand-children and great-grand-children. Both Tucson natives, they were married at St. Augustine Cathedral on June 15, 1946. Mrs. Lopez is a retired homemaker. Mr. Lopez is a retired captain from the City of Tucson Fire Department. They are the proud parents of Sylvia and Jess Morales of Tucson, Aurelio “Al’ Lopez Jr. of Tucson, and Mike lopez of Tucson. They are proud of their grandchildren, Christina Lopez, Brian Lopez, Daniel Morales, Andrea Lopez and Alicia Morales, and their great-grandchildren Amber and Andrew.

In celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary, Dorothy and Gilbert McQuiston were chauffeured to a private room and terrace at The Westward Look Resort for a dinner party with family on June 15. They also plan a trip this fall. They were married June 12, 1946 in Elwood City, Pa. Mrs. McQuiston retired from Arizona Bank. Mr. McQuiston retired from Arizona Automobile Association (AAA). Their children are Brian (Judy) McQuiston, Cheryl (Ken) Burk, Diane (Randy) Wagner, and Jocelyn Riley all of Tucson, and Barry (Sheryl) McQuiston Glide of Oregon. They have 11 grandchildren.
