Virginia Valdez and Charles Leon celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with mass at Most Holy Trinity Parish and with a reception at Quality Hotel and Suites. All of there children and grandchildren were in attendance. Relatives from the Los Angeles, Calif. area, Hermosillo and Cananea, Mexico, and Tucson attended. They were married May 3, 1946 in Tijuana, Baja California. Their children are David and Linda Leon of Tucson, Mary Leon of Tucson, and Daniel and Gloria Leon of San Antonio. They have 7 granchildren.

60th Anniversary
LeVenia and Orrin Webster will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house on June 2 at Christ United Methodist Church.
They were married May 31, 1936 in Lincoln, Neb. Mr. Webster retired after 40 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Their children are Bud and Lil Orcutt of Norwalk, Calif., Beverly Boettiger of Loveland, Colo., Allan and Cher Maybee of Riverside, Wyo., Deal Webster of Tucson, the late Tom Webster, and Jean Blackelk of Denver, Colo. They have 21 grandchildren and 18 great-granchildren.

50th Anniversary
Anna May and Richard Oakley celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner party at the Radisson Hotel and renewal of their wedding vows. Maid of honor Alice Garwacke, best man William Kasper from New Jersey, out-of-town guests and family were in attendance. They are also celebrating with a two-week trip to Maui, Hawaii. They were married May 19, 1946 in Watchung, N.J.. Mr. Oakley is retired from the Doctors Business Bureau. Their daughter is Patricia (Raymond) Adams of Tucson.

50th Anniversary
Lucille and Douglas Yates celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 12. Originally from Arkansas, they moved to Tucson in 1954. Mrs. Yates retired from the Tucson Unified School District and Mr. Yates retired from the Sunnyside School District. Their children are Harry Yates of Prince George, British Columbia, Canada;Richard Yates of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Mary Hodshon-Yates of Tucson. They have two grandsons.

Ramona and Johnny Linares will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary with a buffet dinner on May 18. They also plan a trip to Las Vegas, Nev. Native Tucsonans, they were married May 13, 1961 in Tucson. Mrs. Linares is retired from field engineering and Mr. Linares is retired from Magma Copper Mine.

Shirley and Gilbert Pickering celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They were married May 12, 1956 in Tucson. Their children are Vicki (Greg) Nash of Tucson, Scott (Debra) Pickering of Kent, Wash., Michael (Lyn) Pickering of Tucson, Gigi (Michael) Lamanda of Tucson and Teresa (Mike) Frazier of Tucson. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Erickson celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 28, 1996 at a brunch reception at the Smugglers Inn, which was hosted by their children and grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs. Erickson were married May 1, 1946 in Pasadena, Calif. Mr. Erickson, a native of Northern Minnesota, was graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Chemical Engineering and from California Institute of Technology with a Master of Science in Meteorology. Mrs. Erickson, an Iowa native, attended Coe College and was graduated from the University of Iowa where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Mr. Erickson retired from the Department of Defense at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. Mrs. Erickson retired as a school nurse at the Fort Huachuca Accommodation Schools. The Ericksons have two sons, both attorneys, Paul H. Erickson of Simi Valley, Calif. and Eric Erickson of Tucson. They have two daughters-in-law, both named Kathleen, and are proud of their six grandchildren.

Jorge Vasquez Bon and Elvira Vega Bon will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary at a dinner party hosted by their children at the Cazadores Restaurant, which is owned by their eldest son George Bon. Family and close friends will join them in the celebration of their love. Mr. and Mrs. Bon were married on May 20, 1956 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ajo, Arizona, their hometown. They moved to Tucson in 1963 and made a loving home for their children. Mrs. Bon is a homemaker and has worked in retail sales for 30 years. She is currently employed by Wal-Mart. Mr. Bon served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in the Korean War., He had a 35-year career in mining and retired from Cyprus Mine in 1993. Congratulations and blessings have been sent by their brothers and sisters, Erminina Lizarraga, Enriqueta Cervanti, Josephina Mendez, Carmen Ramirez, Pedro Vega, Feliz Vega Jr., Eduardo Bon, Maria Bon, Concuelo Cicero and Lupe Inclan. Their children are George C. (Nora) Bon, Dorina V. Bon, Jose V. Bon, Lila B. (John) Garcia, Mike V. (Cynthia) Bon and Georgina M. Bon. They are also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. They will continue their celebration onto Laughlin and Las Vegas, Nev. and vacation in Vacaville, California with their son Jose Bon this summer.

Trudy and Bob Dietsch will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mexican fiesta at their daughter’s house on May 18. Mrs. Dietsch’s sister and brother, who were in the original wedding party, and many out-of-town guests will be attending the celebration. Mr. and Mrs. Dietsch were married May 18, 1946 in Chicago, Ill. Tucson residents for 32 years, Mrs. Dietsch is a retired banker and Mr. Dietsch is retired from the U.S. Air Force. Their daughter is Christine (George) Fellner. They have 3 grandchildren.
Duckett
40th Anniversary
Delmar and Florence Duckett, residents of Sun City Vistoso, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary while on a tour of England, Ireland and Scotland. The Ducketts were married May 5, 1956 in Aurora, Ill. where they resided and worked in the area until their retirements in 1992. Mr. Duckett retired in November and Mrs. Duckett retired in December of 1992, at which time thei moved to Arizona.
Montano
50th Anniversary
Alberto and Alicia Montano celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass officiated by Father Javier Perez. They renewed their marriage vows, accompanied by their 7 children, 22 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A dinner reception for family and friends followed at El Pueblo Neighborhood Center. They were married on May 15, 1946 in Terrenate, Sonora, Mexico. They chose to settle in Tucson and raise their family. Through their nurturing and daily examples, they instilled the importance of love, respect and family unity into their children. Despite their busy schedules both Mr. and Mrs Montano always included serving God and others into their lives. Mr. Montano worked for Hayden Flour Mills and Tucson Unified School District and is now retired.

Patricia and Samuel McKee celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a small private dinner party at Hotel Park Tucson with their children and their spouses. They play an cruise and inland trip to Alaska in August. They were married Feb. 16, 1946 at the Bowie Methodist Church in Bowie, Ariz. Mrs. McKee is a retired secretary from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol. Mr. McKee retire from IBEW, Local 570. Their 5 children are Gerald (Sharon) McKee of Sandy, Utah, Marilyn (Lou) of Marcinyi of Tucson, Michael (Janyth) McKee of Tucson, Samuel McKee of Las Vegas, Nev., and Claudia (Thomas) Welsh of Tucson. They have 9 grandchildren.

60th Anniversary
Josephine and Carl Oehrli celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Relatives and friends from out-of-town and Tucson surprised the couple with a party at the home of their son, Rowland Oehrli. The 71 guests enjoyed a terrific time and many returned the following day and to celebrated some more. Mr. and Mrs. Oehrli were married on Friday, March 13, 1936 in Hersey, Mich. They are retired dairy farmers who moved to Prescott, Ariz. in 1963. Their children are Patricia (Larry) Phillips of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Roland (Joyce) Oehrli of Tucson. They have 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Benita and Jesus Hernandez will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. They will celebrate with a ceremony renewing their vows and reception at the Tucson Convention Center on June 7. They will be accompanied by their 5 grandchildren. They were married at Iglesia Sagrado Corazon Church in El Paso, Texas on June 2, 1956. They are 32-year Tucson residents. Their 3 sons are Jesus R. Hernandez Jr. Ricardo Hernandez and Albert Hernandez, all of Tucson.

Deborah Tighe was maid of honor and John Wolfe was best man. Mrs. Boguski is the daughter of Susan and Robert Wach. An alumna of The University of Arizona, she is employed by the Pima County Juvenile Court. Mr. Boguski is the son of Bonnie James and Robert Boguski. An alumnus of Amphitheater High School and the UofA, he is employed by Dataflex.

Mrs. Moreno has lived in Tucson her entire life and Mr. Moreno has resided in Tucson for 45 years. Mrs. Moreno has been employed by Chaparral Middle School for 19 years. Mr. Moreno has been employed by Crescent Electric Supply Co. for 40 years. Their children are Melva (Dan) Barry, Raul (Angie) Moreno Jr., Estella (Ralph) Samorano and Lydia Moreno. Grandchildren are Gilberto, Theresa, Raul III, Daniel Leilani, Cheyenne and Andrea.

Mr. Lopez retired from Pacific Fruit Express. Their children are Richard (Mary) Lopez, Frank (Connie) Lopez), John (Pat) Lopez and Paul (Ofelia) Lopez, all of Tucson. There grandchildren are John, Greg, Cathy, Tracy, Celina, Marissa, Sonia, Cerena and Monique. Their great-grandson is Anthony.

They were married May 24, 1946 in Wynne Chapel, Richland Ranchettes in Tucson. Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood had lived in Tucson for 35 years before moving to Cochise, Ariz. Mrs. Sherwood retired from Foster Care-Pima Welfare & Day Care for working parents. Mr. Sherwood is a retired U.S. Postal Letter Carrier. Their 5 daughters are Dotty (Don) Cooney of Tucson, Margie (Bruce) McLaughlin of Lakeside, Calif., Carolyn (Roger) Olton of Ft. Collins, Colo., Joanna (Leif) Swanson of Charlotte, N.C., and Pat Byrd of Denver, Colo. The have 8 grandchildren, one late grandchild, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Leona and Eugene Williams will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with 10 family members on a summertime cruise and land tour to Alaska aboard the Crown Dynasty Cruise Ship-Inside Passage to Alaska. Family and friends will also gather for an open house in Broken Bow, Neb. this summer. Mrs. Williams recently retired. She owned and operated the Alice Rae Shops for 42 years. Mr. Williams retired from the Soil Conservation Service, USDA to Marana where he owns acreage and farms. Dennis Williams of Marana is their son.

Aurora and Adolfo Barela celebrated their 50th anniversary on March 4, 1996 with their family, including son Ben, his wife Marta and grandson Gregg. Their older grandson Geoff (Angela) Barela are with the Coast Guard, stationed in San Francisco. They were married March 4, 1946 in Silver City, N.M Mr. Barela was in the U.S. Navy during World War II. They moved to Patagonia in 1953 and Mr. Barela began his teaching career at Patagonia Union High School, which included 3 years of administration. Mrs. Barela has been an active member of the Patagonia Women’s Club for 30 years. She is also an active volunteer. They are both active, life members of the in the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Robert and Jean (Ulin) Siewertsen announce their 50th wedding anniversary. They were united in marriage on April 13, 1946 in the Chapel of the Dawn, Santa Monica, Calif. Formerly of Iowa, Mr. Siewertsen was born in Rock Falls, Iowa. Mrs. Siewertsen was born in Belle Plains, Iowa. They settled in Mason City, Iowa in 1946 after Mr. Siewertsen’s discharge from the U.S. Navy. He served in World War II. They moved to Arizona in 1973, making their home in Tucson. They have 4 children and 7 grandchildren: Sheryl and Bart Bartuske of Atlanta, Ga. with Josh of Gainesville, Ga. and Jesse of Mankato, Minn; Karen and Bernie Hoffrichter, with Ben and Benita all of Spencer Iowa; Steven Siewertsen of Tucson; and Lt. Comm. Alan and Mary (Michaud) Siewertsen with Jasen, Jacob and Sarah all of Germantown, Md.

Balderama of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church officiated. Mariachi’s serenaded. A formal dinner for immediate family followed. The Tucson natives were married May 13, 1946. Mrs. Robles retired from The University of Arizona-Undergraduate Admissions. Mr. Robles retired from Ralph’S Transfer. Their children are Pat (Joe) Mada, Judy (David) Molinar, Susan (Albert) Ayala, Eugene (Belia) Robles and James Robles, all of Tucson. They have 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchildren.

Lou and Alexander Ochoa celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows and dining with family and friends at the Doubletree Hotel in Tucson. They also plan a trip to Spain. They were married May 18, 1946 in Los Angeles, Calif. Two-year Tucson residents, Mrs. Ochoa is a retired homemaker and Mr. Ochoa is a retired R&D engineer. Tom and Diana Charpentier of Tucson are their son and daughter-in-law.

Deann Kathleen Ray and Cedric Ian Hay will celebrate their 1st wedding anniversary. They were married May 20, 1995 at St. Philips in the Hills Church in Tucson. Ethan Hay was honor attendant.The daughter of Delores Kempton and Don Ray, she is a graduate of Flowing Wells High School, she is employed by American Airlines. The son of Therese and Peter Hay, he is a graduate of Albuquerque Academy in New Mexico. They met on a blind date at the American Airlines company Christmas party where Mr. Hay works in the International Customer Service Department and Mrs. Hay works in the Customer Service Department, Frequent Flier Program. Mr. Hay grew up in Albuquerque and moved to Tucson in 1981 to attend The University of Arizona. Mrs. Hay grew-up in Klamath Falls, Ore. and come to Tucson in 1986. They have no children at this time, but enjoy their cat Tristan. They hope to stay in Tucson.
