Mathews 50th Anniversary
Mary Evelyn and Edgar E. Mathews celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an afternoon reception at the Crescent Manor Mobile Home Park. They were honored by their children, cousins, friends and relatives.
They were married Dec. 23, 1945 in Terre Haute, Ind. They are 33 year Tucson residents. Mr. Mathews is retired from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson. Their children are Linda K. (James L.) Steen of Tucson and David E. (Roselen M.) Mathews of Arlington, Texas. They have 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Paddock
50th Anniversary
Arline and Charles Paddock celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise luncheon for family and close friends at Charles Restaurant. Guests from out-of-town were from Roswell, N.M., Playa del Rey, Hemet, Rancho Santa Marguerita, Benicia and Oceanside, Calif.
They were married Nov. 17, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Paddock retired from McDonnel Douglas Astronautics Co. in Huntington Beach, Calif. for 34 years. Their children are Kathy Curtis of Tucson, John Paddock of Haiku, Maui and Joan and Robbert Bruins of Oceanside. They have 5 grandchildren.
Stone
50th Anniversary
Irene and Sigmund Stone celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at The Westward Look Resort’s Gold Room. Previously, the couple celebrated with a two-week Caribbean/Panama Canal cruise.
They were married Dec. 29, 1945 in Detroit, Mich. Eleven-year Tucson residents, Mrs. Stone is a homemaker and Mr. Stone is a retired electrical engineer and former University of Arizona professor. Their 3 children are Kathy (John) Vogt of St. Charles, Mich., Christine (Michael) Clothier of Norco, Calif., and Gordon (Laurie) Stone of Tucson. They have 3 grandchildren.
Libbey
50th Anniversary
Gertrude and Rainey Libbey celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 12. They were married in Potrerillos, Chile, where the couple met. Mr. Libbey worked for Anaconda Copper Mining Company until his retirement.
Their children are Lorna (Charles) Cagle of Burns, Ore. and Ellen (Richard) Hargis of Tucson. Their grandchildren are Jason and Bryan Cagle.
McCormack
50th Anniversary
Glenna and Robert McCormack will celebrate their 50th anniversary. Cynthia and Richard Baron, their daughter and son-in-law, will host a celebration of this momentous occasion at the Doubletree Hotel for approximately 125 guests. Some of the guests will come from as far as Alaska.
They were married Jan. 19, 1946 in St. Louis, Mo. They have lived in Arizona for 29 years. Mrs. McCormack retired from Indian Health Service and Mrs. McCormack retired from Monsanto Co. Their children are the late William McCormack and Cynthia Ann Baron of Tucson.
Strothmann
50th Anniversary
Jo and Werner Strothmann celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a week tour of Europe in October. In addition, their children hosted a family dinner at the Ventana Room that was attended by their children, grandchildren and brothers Rudolph (Joyce) Strothmann of Tucson and Curtis (Gwen) Strothmann of Rockford, Ill.
They were married Nov. 8, 1945 in Stillwater, Okla. Mr. Strothmann, an accountant, retired to Tucson from Carmel, Ind. Their children are Gail (Sam) Markham of Tucson, Tom (Claudia) Strothmann of Tucson, and Stacy Zimmer of Prescott. They have 3 grandchildren.
Beuckman
50th Anniversary
Josephene and Adrian Beuckman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by flying to Jefferson City, Mo. to spend Christmas with family. Their three children hosted a dinner reception on Dec. 29 at St. Peters Church in Jefferson City, where they were married Dec. 29, 1945 in St. Louis, Mo.
Residents of Tucson for 38 years, Mr. Beuckman is retired from Southwest Gas. Their children are Tom (Barbara Beuckman of Tucson, Chris (Kim) Beuckman of Tucson, and Walt (Kim) Beuckman of San Diego, Calif. They have 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Meyer
50th Anniversary
Phyllis and Roland Meyer 50th anniversary was celebrated at a surprise reunion planned by their children on Jan. 13 at an evening worship service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. A family dinner was held at the Westward Look Resort. Mr. and Mrs. Chester A. Groseclose of Scottsdale, who stood with them at their wedding in 1946 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Mr. Meyer retired as general superintendent of Cobb Plumbing and Heating in Colorado Springs, Colo. Their children are Nancy Hildreth of Northglenn, Colo., Jane (Reginald) Dawson of Atlanta, Ga., James (Darcia) Meyer of Tucson, and John (Barbara) Meyer of Memphis, Tenn. They have 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Sigmund
50th Anniversary
Stephanie and Thomas Sigmund will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family.
They were married Jan. 20, 1946 in New York, N.Y and have lived in Tucson for 37 years.
Mrs. Sigmund is a homemaker and Mr. Sigmund retired from the U.S. Army and from civil service at Davis Monthan Air Force Base.
Their children are Patricia Sigmund and Laura (James) Connell, all of Tucson. They have 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
