Lila and Herman “Hy’ Kerner celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family in Florida and with friends at a dinner at home. They spend their anniversary in Las Vegas compliments of their children.
They were married Nov. 11, 1945 in Bronx, New York. Mrs. Kerner works part-time for Weight Watchers of Arizona, Inc. and Mr. Kerner is retired. Their children are Ellen Kerner of Manhattan, N.Y., Michael (Joyce) Kerner of Bell Mead, N.Y., and Andrea (Norm) Press of Rockledge, Fla. They have 4 grand children and 1 grand-son-in-law.
Polanco
50th Anniversary
Maria Magdalena and Jose F. Polanco celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with close friends and family With a mass at Santa Cruz Church followed by a reception at the Stardust Ballroom.
They were married Dec. 29, 1945. Mrs. Polanco has been a dedicated mother and grandmother for 50 years and Mr. Polanco retired after 35 years with the Tucson Water Department. Their children are the late Jose Y. Polanco and Connie Fimbres, Salvador (Sally) Polanco, Carmen (Charlie) Altamirano, Magdalena Polanco and Sergio (Betty Pauline) all of Tucson. They have 7 grandchildren.
Rodriguez
60th Anniversary
Bertha and Alfred Rodriguez celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with immediate family at an informal dinner given by their grandchildren.
They were married Oct. 6, 1935 in Tucson. They lived in Nogales, Ariz. for 7 years and in Tucson for 53 years. Mrs. Rodriquez retired from the Tucson Unified School District Bilingual Program after 15 years of service. Mr. Rodriquez worked for Southern Pacific, was a used car salesman and is now retired.
Their children are Graciela (Arnold) Lopez of Tucson, Yolanda (Richard) Moreno of Tucson, Alfred Jr. (Diana) Rodriguez of Palm Springs, Calif., Norma Mejia of Tucson, Jose (Sharon) Rodriguez of Florida, Hector (Edie) Rodriguez of Tucson, Richard (Kathy) Rodriguez of Huntington Beach, Calif., Elsa (Robert) Bourland of Tucson, Cecilia (Robert) Castillo of Tucson, Louie Rodriguez of Tucson, Raul (Randi) Rodriguez of Tucson, Carlos (Gina) Rodriguez of Tucson, and Maria Lourdes Lopez of Tucson. They have 49 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Loska
50th Anniversary
Albert Patrick “Pat’ and Lorraine Miller Loska celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 28 with a luncheon at the Arizona Inn hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Keith Curtis. They were married June 28, 1945 in a civil ceremony in Chicago and in a church ceremony in Globe, Ariz. Mr. Loska worked for the U.S. Forest Service at Sierra Ancha and at Fort Valley.
They were graduated together from The University of Arizona in the mid-1960s. Mrs. Loska is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. They taught in the Tucson Unified School District until their retirement. They have two daughters, Marla and Janet of Phoenix, and four grandchildren.

50th Anniversary
Frances and Arthur Hicks celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise brunch reception given by their children and grandchildren at Lodge on the Desert.
They were married Dec. 1, 1945 in Ann Arbor, Mich. Mrs. Hicks is a retired medical secretary and Mr. Hicks is a retired carpenter/contractor. Their children are Judy and Lloyd Christenson Jr. and Walter Hicks of Tucson, and Mary Keenan of Raleigh, N.C. They have 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

50th Anniversary
Betty and Bud Grainger celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends who attended an afternoon open house at their youngest daughter’s home on Dec. 9. Immediate family attended an evening dinner at Scordato’s.
They were married Dec. 9, 1945 in Johnstown, Penn. Mr. Grainger retired from First Interstate Bank.
Their children are Georgie and Ron Gerhart of Tucson, John and Debi Grainger of Castle Rock, Colo., and Becky and Bob Longoni of Tucson. They have 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

50th Anniversary
Mary and Arthur William Seidel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with friends and family at a dinner at the Orelup home.
They were married Nov. 6, 1945 in Ashland, Kan. The 50 year Tucson residents are retired.
Annette (Nathan) Orelup of Tucson is their daughter.

50th Anniversary
Rena and Clayton O. Kiekebusch will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception at Kon Tiki Restaurant on Dec. 26, with all of their children and grandchildren.
They were married Feb. 2, 1946 in Buffalo, N.Y. She was manager of a gift shop and ran a bed and breakfast business. He was with the U.S. Post Office. Their children are Lani (Monroe) Smith of Tucson, Karen (Hans) Wurfel of Palm Dale, Calif., Tammy Kiekebusch of Mesa, Ariz., and Keith Kiekebusch of Pinetop, Ariz. They have 2 grandchildren
Swena
71st Anniversary
Eleanor W. and Melvin B. Swena celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.
An early 70th celebration was a large family affair near Port Townsend, Wash. The actual day was celebrated along with a granddaughters’s wedding in Chattanooga. A quiet dinner was arranged in honor of the 71st at their daughter’s home in Tucson. Mr. Swena, dressed in his black suit, had an orchid boutonniere. Mrs. Swena was beautiful in her light teal dress. A large orchid corsage graced her shoulder.
They were married Nov. 27, 1924 and have lived in Tucson for five years.
Mrs. Swena was a full-time mother and homemaker. Mr. Swena was a rural letter carrier for 44 years. He is an ordained Seventh-Day Adventist minister who was active in the development of several churches in the South.
Their 6 children are Melvin B. (Louise) Swena Jr. of Seattle, Wash., Edward M. Swena of Tucson, Richard P. (Betty) Swena of Springfield, Mo., Kay (Perry M. Spargur of Tucson, Clifford E. (Jackie) Swena of Marietta, Ga., and Alma Lou Sasser of Chattanooga, Tenn.
They have 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Taylor
50th Anniversary
Byrdena and Robert Taylor will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan. 7 during an open house at their home hosted by their children. They also celebrated at Coronado Baptist Church.
They were married Jan. 5, 1946 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Tucson residents for 47 years, Mrs. Taylor is a retired private duty registered nurse and Mr. Taylor is retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Their children are Robert (Virginia) Taylor of Rehoboth, Mass., and Ronald (Beverly) Taylor, Susan (Kenneth) Wier, James (Roxanne) Taylor, and Charles Taylor all of Tucson. They have 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

55th Anniversary
Ann and Elwood (Woody) Rhoades celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren at a dinner at the Silver Saddle Steak House.
They were married Dec. 14, 1940 in Sacramento, Calif. Mr. Roades retired from the Southern Pacific Police Department. Their children are Judy Conner of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Ginjer Rhoades and Vickie Matchett of Tucson. Their 4 grandchildren are Curtis, Tammee, Ryan and Sean. Alyssa and Alex are their great-grandchildren.
Perret
50th Anniversary
Jeri and Bill Perret celebrated their 50th anniversary at mass at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Their son, Rev. Gary Perret, M.S.F., officiated. Their nephew, Rev. Doug Dandurand of Minneapolis, Minn. concelebrated with the priests of SS. Peter and Paul Parish. A reception was held at The Doubletree Hotel.
They were married Oct. 27, in 1945. Their children are Rev. Gary Perret, M.S.F. of Donna Texas; Joanne Perret of Homer, Alaska; and Dennis Perrett, Mary Ann (Jeff) Pentecost, Donna Perrett (Pedro Cabrera), and Jackie (Wade) Clark all of Tucson. They have 5 grandchildren.
