Powell
25th Anniversary
Patty and Steve Powell celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with a Caribbean cruise over the holidays then on to the Rose Bowl festivities with their children, Debbi and Andy.
The Powells were married Jan. 18, 1969 in Empalme, Sonora, Mexico. They have lived in Arizona 20 years.
Mrs. Powell is a medical student and Mr. Powell is general manager of Fairfield Communities Inc. in Green Valley.
Baker
50th Anniversary
Maxine and Dale Baker celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with southwestern parties hosted by their children, including a brunch with music and dancing at a local hotel.
They were married Dec. 25, 1943 in Reno, Nev. They have lived in Arizona 21 years. Mrs. Baker retired as a hairdresser and Mr. Baker is a retired carpenter.
They have three children: Sondra Mullins of Tucson, Darrell Baker of Dade City, Fla. and Kristena Corbett of Highland, Calif. They have 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Griffin
45th Anniversary
Mildred and Ewing Griffin celebrated their forty-fifth wedding anniversary at a surprise party hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Gwynn and Gifford Scott. It was held at the Scott home.
They were married Dec. 10, 1948 in Jackson, Tenn. and have lived in Arizona 31 years where Mrs. Griffin is active in many clubs and organizations and Mr. Griffin is a retiree of Hughes Aircraft.
They have two children, Gwynn Scott of Tucson and Suzanne Boyd of Jackson, Tenn. They have four grandchildren.
Zeigler
71st Anniversary
Josephine and Clyde Zeigler celebrated their seventy-first wedding anniversary with a dinner party at Hidden Valley Inn.
They were married Dec. 8, 1922 in New Cumberland, Pa. and have lived in Arizona seven years. Mrs. Zeigler is a retiree of Kinney’s Shoe Company and Mr. Zeigler retired from Greyhound in Philadelphia.
They have three children: Audrey of Harrisburg, Pa., Leon of Loveland, Colo. and Delores of Westminister, Md. They have 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Gordon
25th Anniversary
Georgetta and David Gordon celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary with a party Dec. 17, 1993 at the VFW Post #4903. They were married Dec. 21, 1968 in Las Vegas, Nev. and have lived in Arizona 25 years. Mrs. Gordon is a homemaker and Mr. Gordon was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad.
They have two daughters, Kristy and Jenny Gordon, both of Tucson.
Silvaer
1st Anniversary
Sheri and Vince Silvaer celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a reminiscent evening at locations related to their wedding festivities.
They were married Dec. 31, 1992 at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church and have lived in Arizona 23 years.
Mrs. Silvaer is a teacher at White Elementary School and Mr. Silvaer is employed by Moore Corporation.
Webb
15th Anniversary
Nancy and Gary Webb will observe their fifteenth wedding anniversary today, Jan. 20.
Mrs. Webb is a native of Ohio and Mr. Webb is a native of New York who met in Tucson and were married Jan. 20, 1979.
Mrs. Webb is employed by IBM as an Intellectual Property Law administrator and Mr. Webb is a retiree from IBM.
Buxton
50th Anniversary
Frieda and Jim Buxton celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Dec. 28, 1993. They moved from Celina, Ohio to Tucson in April of 1953.
They have four children: Carol Ann Thomas, Rikki J. Doyle, Bradley Ross Buxton of Tucson and Kandice Kay Paffel of Stanley, Wisc. They have six granddaughters, one grandson and one step-granddaughter.
Frieda is now retired from office work and Jim retired from civil service. They are planning some trips in the near future, including a cruise.
Bash
50th Anniversary
Jean and John Bash celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a reception at Far Horizons East Mobile Home Court hosted by their children.
They were married Dec. 24, 1943 in the Army Air Corps Chapel at Walnut Ridge, Ark. They have lived in Arizona 18 years.
The Bashes have two children: Steven E. Bash of Orem, Utah and Jill Bash (Mrs. Richard Pehrson) of Atlanta, Ga.
Robinson
53rd Anniversary
Erma D. and Elmer A. “Red’ Robinson celebrated their fifty-third wedding anniversary at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, Calif. They were married Dec. 22, 1940 in Lansing, Mich. and have lived in Arizona 11 years.
Mrs. Robinson is a retired school teacher from the Lansing School System and Mr. Robinson is a retired builder of custom homes in the Lansing area.
They have two children, Janice Nelson of Cadillac, Mich. and Jim Robinson of Newport, Tenn., and five grandchildren.
Renteria
47th Anniversary
Guadalupe Garcia-Renteria and Jesus Renteria, Sr. celebrated their forty-seventh wedding anniversary with a trip to San Diego, Calif.
They were married Jan. 6, 1947 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rio Grande City, Texas and have lived in Tucson 22 years where Mr. Renteria retired from Penske Truck Rental and Leasing. Mrs. Renteria is a homemaker.
They have eight children: Josefa, Carmen, Gilbert, Dolores Lozano, Maria Villa, Gloria Doyle, Pablo and Jess Jr.
Jensen
50th Anniversary
Jane R. and Robert W. Jensen celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a party at Justice Ranch in Plano, Texas hosted by their nine children who live in San Angelo and Plano, Texas, Tucson, Phoenix and Benson, and Vergennes, Vt. Most of their 30 grandchildren also attended as well as several close friends.
The Jensens were married Jan. 20, 1944 in Waterbury, Conn. They have lived in Arizona 34 years where they taught in Tucson Unified School District. They now are retired.
Brown
50th Anniversary
Harriett and Clarence W. Brown celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with an open house at the home of their son, Andrew C. Brown, and daughter-in-law Janice Brown.
They were married Dec. 30, 1943 at University Methodist Church. Harriett is a retiree after 21 years with Tucson area hospitals. Clarence retired after 26 years with local hospitals.
They have three children – Sandra L. Whipple, Andrew C. Brown and Laura L. Caesar – and six grandsons.
Lozano
1st Anniversary
Dolores Renteria-Lozano and Saul Alfredo Lozano celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a trip to Mexico City and Central America.
They are pictured on their wedding day, Jan. 2, 1993, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Father Gilbert Padilla and Rev. John Fife officiated.
Dolores, a Spanish teacher at Flowing Wells High School, is an alumna of Salpointe Catholic High School and the UA.
Saul, a self-employed woodcarver, received his education in El Salvador.
