Sanchez
50th Anniversary
Olga C. and Frank C. Sanchez celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a mass at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Church and a party at the Latin American Club of Tucson.
They were married Dec. 10, 1944 in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico. They have seven children: Esther (Ramon) Larribas, Olga (Raymundo) Borguez, Maria Elena Sanchez, Jose Conrado (Rosie) Sanchez, Maria Jesus (Nick) Yourgulez, David (Debbie) Sanchez, and Albert (Rachel) Sanchez all of Tucson. They have 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Plicato
50th Anniversary
Norma R. and William L. Plicato celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with an Alaskan cruise and a family luncheon given by their daughter Annette at her home. The couple was toasted with champagne in crystal and gold flutes which were presented to them by their children as gifts.
They were married Nov. 21, 1944 in Buffalo, N.Y. They have two children, Annette Plicato and Dianne Zincke of Albuquerque, N.M. Their grand daughter, Erika Caton and her husband David and their son William of Albuquerque also attended the festivities.
Mr. Plicato was an electronics engineer with Bell Aerospace Textron, a company that he assisted in establishing in Tucson in 1960. He retired with 37 years of service as director of marketing. He is a 1944 graduate of the Army-Air Force electronics school at Yale University and received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Buffalo in 1950. He is a veteran of World War II.
Mrs. has held many responsible positions including: chief of the Post Engineers Payroll Department at Sheppard Field, Texas; executive secretary at General Motors; and heading the finance department of the Veteran’s Administration in Buffalo, N.Y.
Huerstel
50th Anniversary
Genevieve and Gerald Huerstel celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a family dinner and Mass.
Stationed in Boca Raton, Fla. during World War II, they met on a Sunday morning after Mass and had breakfast together despite the fact that she was a officer in the Army Air Corps and he was enlisted in the Marines. They were married Dec. 16, 1944 at Holy Family Catholic Church in the Bronx, N.Y. Mr. Huerstel is a Bronx native and Mrs. Huerstel from Lincoln, Neb. and have lived in Arizona 28 years.
Their eight children are Margaret of San Diego, Calif.; Catherine of Hemet, Calif.; Gerald Jr. (Mary) of Tucson; Genevieve II (Enrique) of Tucson; Patricia (Bernhardt) of Los Alamos, N.M.; Terese of Reno, Nev.; Juliann of Tucson; and Anthony (Anne) of Los Angeles, Calif. They have 15 grandchildren.
Mr. Huerstel is retired from the U.S. Navy and from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. Mrs. Huerstel is a wife and mother.
Their children congratulate them for their “courage and commitment through the lean years, the happy years and the challenges that family life brings.’
Searer
50th Anniversary
Lois and Wayne D. Searer celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at a open house on Dec. 11 at the home of Lois’s brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Dorothy Meek.
They were married Dec. 25 in Willow Creek Methodist Church in Mishawaka, Ind. Their children are Karen Haight of Los Alamitos, Calif., Janet Powell, Bradley and Searer and Terry Searer all of Tucson. They have 14 grandchildren.
She is retired from Amphitheater School District and he is retired from the City of Tucson.
Matthiessen
50th Anniversary
Laura and Arthur Matthiessen celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with family and close friends at a dinner hosted by their children on Oct. 29.
They were married Oct. 22, 1944 in Newport News, Va. and have lived in Arizona 42 years. Their children are Carla (Hugh G., III) Kennedy of Tucson and Arthur (Rhonda) Matthiessen, II of Las Vegas, Nev. They have four grandchildren.
Mrs. Matthiessen retired from Hughes Aircraft Co. and Mr. Matthiessen retired from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and the Arizona Air National Guard.
Ochoa
50th Anniversary
Dora and Agustin Ochoa will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a private family dinner.
They were married Dec. 24, 1944 in Cananea, Mexico. Their children are: Marcelo Ochoa of La Mirada, Calif.; Jesus Ochoa (deceased); Agustin of Vista, Calif.; Arturo of Las Vegas, Nev.; Rudy of Oceanside, Calif.; Jennie Campbell of Carlsbad, Calif.; Maria Hiller of Tucson; and Elizabeth Smith of Tucson. They have 15 grandchildren and seven grand-grandchildren.
Mr. Ochoa is retired from Southern Pacific Railroad.
Kulik
50th Anniversary
Mary and Edward Kulik celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on a trip to Hawaii given to them by their children. The renewal of their vows at St. Pius X Church and a reception at La Mariposa Club were on Oct. 8.
They were married July 8, 1944 in Brooklyn, N.Y. Their children are: Diane Goldhammer of Smith’s Point, N.Y.; Jane Kulik (deceased); Joanne Dollarhide of Ventura, Calif.; Suzanne Walker of Fair Oaks, Calif.; and Mariellen Kulik of Lakewood, Colo.
Mr. Kulik is retired from New York City Transit and Gates Learjet.
Harphant
50th Anniversary
Eileen and Harold Harphant will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a renewal of their vows at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church followed by a reception at their home.
They were married Jan. 10, 1945 in Paris, Texas. They have four children: Randy and Mark of Tucson, Mike of Elko, Nev. and Mary Kay Wallace of Tenino, Wash. They have five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is retired from Magma Copper Co. in San Manuel and she is retired from Oracle School District in Oracle, Ariz.
Toures
50th Anniversary
Virginia and Gus Toures will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a dinner dance for 115 people at St. Demetrios Hellenic Center.
They were married Dec. 6, 1944 in El Paso, Texas. They have one child Pam (Chris) Jarrett of Tucson and three grandchildren Becky, Ben and Zack.
Mrs. Toures is a retired nurse and Mr. Toures is retired from Kitt Peak National Observatory. They have lived in Arizona 33 years.
Farruggio
50th Anniversary
Lillian and Frank Farruggio will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on the Mexican Rivera. Their children gave them and will accompany them on a Mexican Baja cruise.
They were married Dec. 30, 1944 in Manhattan, N.Y. Their children are Jane (Tom) Maurici and Grace (Leroy) Ulrich of Tucson. They have five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

65th Anniversary
Iona and Alva Rector will celebrate their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
They were married Dec. 12, 1929 in Logan, Ohio. They have lived in Arizona 39 years.
They have three daughters: Arlene (Larry) Elliott, Diane (George) Tietz and Judith (James) Moore all of Tucson. The Rectors have eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rector retired from Tucson Medical Center and Mr. Rector retired from the State Highway Department.
